Life acheivements of November:

Well, there were a couple. I had big ups and downs this month, and things are beginnng to settle a bit around me. Oddnumber Ma thinks I should "rest on my laurels" a bit, and I have no idea what that means in practical terms but I have had a marvellously spinster-reculse weekend of domesticity and sleep, which was sorely needed.

Inspired by Robyn, Japanese food, and Ms Plum, I wrote a bit on Skyfall and Dame Judi Badass Dench for Bitch Flicks. 

Though it has been a week shot through with weeping and angst, it's turning around. *swigs wine directly from bottle* Not that much around, but better. I left the house on Thursday keeping my eyes wide open to soak up the sun and counter any SAD lurking. Last night I went to see Argo, which if viewed as a text about Iranian/US politics is problematic as hell, but if viewed as a movie about movies is great fun.

I am sort of doing NaNoWriMo, and when I say sort of, I mean I am writing lots but it's not quite a NaNo project. It's more a chance to mop up odds and ends, which is what I did the last time I gave it a go. But what I really enjoy about the whole thing is the connection with friends also slogging their way to a word count. Community is essential to making art, I reckon. Community and caffeine. 

Had a big week, with going to Skyfall (the dog's nuts) on Tuesday, epic Dim Sum on Wednesday as a belated birthday present, and Robyn - fucking Robyn, I adore her - on Thursday. Went with Ms. Plum, and we'd been waiting since March or April for it. Totally wonderful, I had a big dance and sang along all dewy-eyed.

My po-faced chin-stroking feministy response to the 'there are no manly men in movies anymore' truism is here at Bitch Flicks. I wrote it earlier this year and recently resuscitated it. Very sixth-form essay in parts, but I'm glad it got to see the light of day eventually. 

Inspired by both annifa and My Little Stiches, I tried to go to a pilates class last Saturday.
